Band yang terbentuk pada tahun 2008 ini yang didirikan oleh Ben Bruce (lead gitar) dan bersama rekan-rekannya yakni Danny Worksnop (vocal), cameron Liddell (gitar), Sam Bettley (bass), Dan James Cassells (drum).
Asking Alexandria mempunyai akar di Dubai, Uni Emirate Arab, dimana gitaris Ben Bruce memulai sebuah Banddan merilis satu Album full-length (berjudul the irony of your perfection) dengan nama Asking Alexandria. Band ini ternyata tidak bertahan lama dan akhirnya memutuskan untuk bubar.
Pada tahun 2008, Ben Bruce pindah kembali ke inggris, dia tidak tinggal diam melihat penempatan karir musiknya di tahandan tidak lama setelah pindah dia mulai bergerak dengan anggota barunya, meskipun memutuskan untuk meneruskan nama Asking Alexandria . Bruce telah menyatakan bahwa dia mempunyai hak cipta akan nama band tersebut, dia menyatakan atas kesukaan dia terhadap nama dan makana Asking Alexandria (????????????? saya belum mendapatkan sumber untuk makna nama "Askin Alexandria".... heheheheheh maaf.... :))))
Bruce juga membantah atas peryataan beberapa blog yng menyatakan Asking alexandria (inggris) yang sekarang berbeda dengan Asking Alexandria yang dulu (Dubai), beberapa blog mengklaim bahwa ada dua(2) Asking Alexandria yang berbeda, Dan serentak Bruce pun membantah kabar yang beredar di dunia maya itu.

Perubahan formasi Alexandria:
karena formasi mereka di tahun 2008 telah mengalami perubahan anggota termasuk dengan keberangkatan Ryan Binns synthesist. perubahan terakhir yang di ketahui adalah bassis Sam bettley yang menggantikan Joe Lancaster pada january 2009.

setelah tour mereka pada tahun 2008, band ini merekam album antara mei-juni 2009 di "The Foundation Studios" di Connersville, Indiana, AS dengan produser Joey Sturgis. Mereka mengymumkan penandatanganan mereka dengan Sumeria Record lama setelah menyelsaikan rekaman dan merilis album debut mereka, Stand Up dan Scream, pada tanggal 15 September 2009 melalui label baru mereka.
